Marietta, GA — This afternoon, Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) spoke to hundreds of members of Students Demand Action as part of their 2020 National Virtual Student Summit. Many of the participants have had their Senior years of college and high school cut short, and important milestones cancelled or moved online. The event served as a way to share stories, develop skills, and bring students together in community during this time of social isolation.

“Many, if not all of our young people, have had their daily lives affected by COVID-19,” McBath said. “Schools have closed, proms cancelled, state championships scrapped, and graduation ceremonies made virtual. I’m proud to have been part of today’s Summit as these students support each other during this time of crisis, build and strengthen their community, and find ways to continue the fight to end gun violence and keep our families safe.”

Rep. McBath joined guest speakers Sen. Cory Booker, professional soccer player Alejandro Bedoya, actress Katherine McNamara, founder of Moms Demand Action Shannon Watts, and others to share their stories and emphasize the importance of the gun violence prevention movement.
