Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.

Representative McBath may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district. The honor of attending a service academy comes with the obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.

Q: Do I need to submit my high school transcript and school disciplinary record?

A: No. A complete nomination application will include all items listed in the application form on Congresswoman McBath’s website, as well as three letters of recommendation from the applicant’s designated references.

Q: How should I submit my three required letters of recommendation?

A: Letters of recommendation may be submitted to our office by the applicant, or directly from the recommender by email (, fax (202-225-4656), or by mail (5775 Glenridge Drive, Building B, Suite 380 Atlanta, GA 30328).

Q: When will I be notified if I have been selected for a virtual interview?

A: Applicants will be notified of their selection for a virtual interview with Rep. McBath’s service academy board by Monday, October 26th.

Q: If my standardized test results have been delayed due to COVID-19, can I submit them after my original application submission?

A: If your standardized test scores have been delayed due to COVID-19, you may submit them as an addendum to your application by emailing
