Duluth, GA — This week, Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA) announced Seventh District students who were nominated by her office to attend a United States military service academy. In total, 18 students from the Seventh District received nominations to the following academies: 12 students received a nomination to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, 10 students received a nomination to attend the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, 7 students received a nomination to attend the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and 2 students received a nomination to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.
“Each year, I am privileged to nominate students from our community for appointments to our United States military service academies,” McBath said. “These men and women represent the best and brightest of our community, and I know that they are highly qualified for an appointment to their chosen service academies. I offer my congratulations to these impressive young candidates for earning a nomination, and I wish them the best of luck in this latest step in their pursuit of a career in military service.”
All students who received a nomination from McBath’s office must now be selected by the service academy for a formal appointment to attend in the fall of 2025. The following students* received a congressional nomination to attend a United States military service academy in the 2025-2026 academic year:

- Archer High School student Jalen Anderson of Lawrenceville received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy
- Norcross High School student Sean D. Balderas of Peachtree Corners received a nomination to the Unites States Naval Academy
- Chattahoochee High School student Spencer T. Cavin of Alpharetta received a nomination to the United States Airforce Academy, United States Military Academy, and United States Naval Academy
- Johns Creek High School student Heidi J. Chung of Alpharetta received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy, United States Military Academy, and United States Naval Academy
- Woodward Academy student Aidan P. Connors of Johns Creek received a nomination to United States Military Academy and United Stated Naval Academy
- Johns Creek High School Benjiman R. Coval of Johns Creek received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy
- Northview High School student Joshua Jung of Johns Creek received a nomination to the United States Military Academy and United Stated Naval Academy
- Gwinnett Mathematics, Science, and Technology High School student Hortencia Kongolo of Lawrenceville received a nomination to United States Military Academy and United States Air Force Academy
- Norcross High School student Matthew D. Mitchell of Norcross received a nomination to United States Military Academy
- Johns Creek High School student Seojin J. Park of Alpharetta received a nomination to United States Air Force Academy, United States Naval Academy, and United States Military Academy
- Parkview High School student Samuel E. Thompson of Lilburn received a nomination to United States Naval Academy
