Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Marietta) released the following statement after joining her House colleagues in announcing that after months of negotiations, an agreement to benefit American businesses and workers has been reached in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which replaces the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The new agreement is supported by both the business community and organized labor.

“Since coming to Congress, I have heard from business owners across the Sixth District who have been asking for a trade agreement that strengthens our economy and protects hardworking Americans. When negotiating a better deal for the American people, our efforts focused on protecting workers, ensuring a stable framework for a thriving economy, setting a fair and equal standard for international trade, preserving access to affordable prescription drugs, and requiring improved environmental guidelines. I look forward to the final passage of the USMCA and am deeply appreciative of the hard work of our Congressional leadership, the White House, and our global partners to ensure our North American businesses are competitive, our workers are empowered, and our economies are strong.”
