Sandy Springs, GA – Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) released the following statement commemorating Jewish American Heritage Month:

“As we close out the first full week of May, please join me in celebrating Jewish American Heritage Month. A year after Georgia’s founding, Samuel Nunes, a Jewish immigrant and Georgia’s only physician, helped stop an epidemic that threatened to wipe out the entire colony. I am proud that generations of Jewish Americans have chosen to make this state their home; Georgia has been better for it.

"Jewish Americans have a long and proud history in Georgia and in the United States. Their story is inherently American - it is one of resilience in the face of persecution and a commitment to creating a better world. While our country has made great strides, the Jewish community is still the target of anti-Semitism, and we must continue to stand against all forms of hate, violence, and bigotry.

"This month, we commemorate the important role Jewish Americans have played throughout our history, we celebrate the contributions they continue to make in American society today, and we look forward to a vibrant future of peace, love, and community.”
