Atlanta, GA — Representative Lucy McBath released the following statement this evening:
"I was not able to be present in Washington due to an urgent health matter with my husband, Curtis. We appreciate the well wishes from those near and far.
"If I had been able to vote remotely today, I would have voted NO. The Republican-led legislation before the House does not address the rising costs of health care that are burdening American families. As a two-time breast cancer survivor navigating additional health challenges in my own family, I know firsthand how access, affordability, and care determine outcomes.
"I was proud to be an early signer on the clean Democratic discharge petition for a 3 year extension of life-saving tax credits to make health care more affordable, which today reached the threshold to force a separate bipartisan vote on the House floor in January. As always, I am committed to working across the aisle on solutions that make health care more affordable and accessible for the American people."
