Duluth, GA — This week, Rep. Lucy McBath announced Seventh District students who were nominated by her office to attend a United States military service academy. In total, Congresswoman McBath nominated 22 students to the following academies: 7 students received a nomination to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, 10 students received a nomination to attend the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, 8 students received a nomination to attend the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and 5 students received a nomination to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.

“As a member of a military family myself, I continue to be impressed by the dedication of our young people to serving our nation and our ideals,” McBath said. “22 young men and women from our community have earned these nominations to service academies, an achievement they and their families should be extremely proud to bear. I wish them luck as they embark on this next step of their academic journey.”

All students who received a nomination from McBath’s office must now be selected by the service academy for a formal appointment to attend in the fall of 2024. The following students* received a congressional nomination to attend a United States military service academy in the 2024-2025 academic year:

  • Northview High School student Elena Andrade of Johns Creek received a nomination to the United States Military Academy.
  • Berkmar High School student Mario Arias of Lawrenceville received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy. 
  • Victory Baptist High School student Jonathan Choi of Loganville received a nomination to the United States Military Academy and United States Naval Academy.
  • Blessed Trinity Catholic High School student Timothy Cole of Johns Creek received a nomination to the United States Military Academy.
  • North Gwinnett High School student Katherine Copeland of Duluth received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy and the United States Air Force Academy.
  • Johns Creek High School student Benjamin Coval of Johns Creek received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy.
  • Grayson High School student Tiffany Dang of Grayson received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy. 
  • Wesleyan High School student Nadia Desbordes of Duluth received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy. 
  • Providence Christian Academy student Chandler Dunn of Lilburn received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy. 
  • Norcross High School student James Garmon of Peachtree Corners received a nomination to the United States Military Academy
  • Archer High School student Justin Johnson of Lawrenceville received a nomination to the United States Military Academy.
  • Walton High School student Jae Min Kim of Atlanta received a nomination to the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
  • Greenbrier High School student Savannah Koback of Evans received a nomination to the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
  • Peachtree Ridge High School student Morgan Lee of Duluth received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy.
  • Wesleyan High School student Mamie Pridgen of Peachtree Corners received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy.

  • Northview High School student Connor Stalheim of Johns Creek received a nomination to the United States Military Academy and United States Merchant Marine Academy.
