Peachtree Corners, GA — On Friday, October 6th, Representative Lucy McBath (GA-07) welcomed United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai to Siemens in Peachtree Corners for an Investing in America roundtable conversation. Joined by leadership from Siemens, local elected officials, and representatives from the small business community, Friday’s event was an opportunity to discuss the many ways in which the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda is driving historic investments in American manufacturing. In particular, Siemens showcased their work on electric vehicle charging and the upstream infrastructure that will be required to accommodate this clean energy technology.
“Investing in American manufacturing is the key to ushering in the next generation of leadership at home and around the world, and the Biden-Harris Administration is leading the way in advancing policies that are driving generational investments in manufacturing and a clean energy future,” McBath said. “I was so pleased to welcome Ambassador Tai to Georgia where she saw firsthand the impacts of the Investing in America agenda at Siemens, a company making significant investments in critical infrastructure and electric vehicle technology as a direct result of legislation such as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act.”
“It’s fitting that I was able to spend National Manufacturing Day in Georgia, visiting Siemens and speaking with community and business leaders about how President Biden’s Investing in America agenda has brought about a manufacturing boom,” said Ambassador Katherine Tai. “What is very much apparent in my conversations is the economic opportunity blossoming in Gwinnett and the larger Atlanta metro area. As we saw with the September jobs numbers announced Friday, our economy is strong, we have record job growth, and companies like Siemens are making historic investments to increase American competitiveness.”
“At Siemens, our investments to grow our manufacturing footprint and strengthen our talent pipeline directly support the American industries and infrastructure that serve as the backbone of the economy,” said Barry Powell, North America Head of Siemens Electrical Products Business. “On this Manufacturing Day, we were honored to host Representative McBath and Ambassador Tai at our Peachtree Corners facility to share in our collective goal of a cleaner, more electrified future for all in the United States.”
Siemens is working to support the next generation of American infrastructure, having invested $3 billion in the United States over the last four years. Last year, President Biden welcomed the company to the White House to announce a $54 million investment in producing American-made equipment for electrical infrastructure manufacturing. In September, it was announced that the Siemens Foundation will invest $30 million over the next decade in American workforce development focused on electric vehicle charging technicians.
