Dunwoody, GA — Today, Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) joined advocates, constituents, faith leaders, health care workers, and community leaders for a Climate Action Now event at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta in Dunwoody. McBath spoke with attendees about efforts at the federal level to pass legislation that makes meaningful investments in climate infrastructure, clean energy jobs, and clean air and water initiatives.

“Transportation and infrastructure have long been a central part of what makes this community run,” said McBath. “At the start of this month, I was honored to welcome Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to our district as he toured the country to talk about the critical need for serious investments in our nation’s infrastructure.”

The event was hosted by Environment Georgia, Georgia Conservation Voters, Sierra Club Georgia Chapter, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Mothers and Others for Clean Air, Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, Environmental Defense Fund, and Moms Clean Air Force.

“Necessities like clean air and clean water are imperative for the health of our children, the health of our families, and the health of our communities,” continued McBath. “I believe we all deserve access to a safe, clean environment to live in, and when it comes to clean energy, our future depends on us adopting and utilizing these technologies today. We can make a real difference right here in Georgia’s Sixth District, and that work is being done at every level of government to bring our transportation and infrastructure systems into the 21st century.”

During the event, the hosting organizations highlighted their community clean energy project and showcased the benefits solar provides to the communities in Georgia’s Sixth District.
