Marietta, GA — This afternoon, Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) honored 17 veterans of the Vietnam War and one family of a deceased Vietnam veteran from Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District in a 50th Commemoration Pinning Ceremony. Those recognized during the ceremony served in the United States Army, Navy, and Air Force. This was the fifth 50th Commemoration Pinning Ceremony McBath has held for veterans of the Vietnam War since taking office in 2019.
“I was so grateful for another chance to honor so many of our Vietnam veterans today in this long overdue public recognition of thanks and gratitude,” McBath said. “Our country cannot stop at just gratitude, however. We must continue the hard work to make sure that promises made to veterans are fulfilled, and that the benefits our veterans earned are received.”
Participating veterans were honored with a commemorative lapel pin and a certificate of special recognition. In order to safely convene a virtual gathering, McBath’s office mailed pins and certificates to all participating veterans ahead of Monday’s ceremony. Lieutenant Colonel Cary King, retired United States Army, participated as a guest speaker.
Established in 2008, the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration honors veterans of the Vietnam War for their heroic service and pays tribute to their selfless contributions.
