Sandy Springs, GA — Today, Rep. Lucy McBath sent a letter to Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Charles Rettig to share concerns about the problems that have been reported to her by constituents about their Economic Impact Payments.

“This pandemic continues to weigh heavily on the minds of my neighbors,” McBath said. “With the rising number cases in Georgia, paired with the expiration of eviction freezes at the end of June, Americans are anxious about their financial security. Residents continue to contact my office looking for assistance with their Economic Impact Payments, and my staff is not receiving the communication necessary from the IRS to effectively address this specific issue. Families in Georgia’s Sixth District, and around the country, need to know the status of their Economic Impact Payments during these difficult times.”

Since the first issuance of Economic Impact Payments, Rep. McBath’s office has worked with hundreds of constituents who reported that they were unable to locate information on the status of their Economic Impact Payments. These payments were included as part of the bipartisan CARES Act, the third emergency federal response package passed by Congress in response to the coronavirus.
