Atlanta, GA – On Tuesday, March 19, Congresswoman Lucy McBath and House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer joined a bipartisan group of state and local elected officials and transportation agency representatives for a roundtable discussion on infrastructure. The roundtable provided an opportunity for McBath and Hoyer to hear directly from community leaders about the growing transportation and infrastructure needs of the metro Atlanta region.

“I invited Majority Leader Hoyer down because I wanted to bring local, state, and federal policymakers together to see if we can lay the foundation for investments that would help the region as we head into infrastructure discussions later this year. I am grateful that he was able to join us today for a productive and necessary discussion,” said McBath. “There’s no stronger leader in Congress on the issues of transportation infrastructure, the need to modernize, and bring our transportation systems into the 21st Century, than Mr. Hoyer. While this is the first of many conversations we’ll be having with House leaders, I wanted to have our local leaders at the table for this foundational discussion. This was a great first step for our region.”

“I was pleased to join Rep. McBath in Atlanta today to meet with local leaders and hear about infrastructure challenges and how Congress can help,” said Leader Hoyer. “Investing in infrastructure to grow our economy and create good jobs is central to House Democrats’ agenda. We are holding hearings about how best to achieve that objective and hope we can move forward on a bipartisan basis to advance legislation. I look forward to working with Rep. McBath to ensure that Atlanta and its surrounding communities benefit from infrastructure investments, and I thank her for her leadership and for arranging this opportunity to hear directly from local leaders.”

Rep. McBath will to continue to hold bipartisan local discussions about issues affecting Georgia’s Sixth District.
