Sandy Springs, GA — Today, Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) honored 20 veterans of the Vietnam War from Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District in her office’s 50th Commemoration Pinning Ceremony. Those recognized during the ceremony served in the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force. A recording of the event can be viewed here. This is the second 50th Commemoration Pinning Ceremony McBath has held for veterans of the Vietnam War in the last year.

“It was my honor to recognize so many Sixth District Vietnam War veterans this morning,” McBath said. “I was thrilled to host this ceremony virtually and converse with veterans from across our community. I look forward to inviting more Vietnam veterans to be honored at our next pinning ceremony. As America observes the ongoing commemoration of the 50thanniversary of the Vietnam War, my office will continue to do all we can to thank, honor, and support these brave men and women on behalf of a grateful nation.”

Veterans were honored with a commemorative lapel pin and a certificate of special recognition. In order to safely convene a virtual gathering, McBath’s office mailed pins and certificates to all participating veterans ahead of Monday’s ceremony. Major General Arnold Fields, retired United States Marine Corps, delivered keynote remarks. General Fields currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration. He retired from the Marine Corps in 2004 after over 34 years of active military service.

Established in 2008, the United States of America Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Pinning Ceremony honors veterans of the Vietnam War for their heroic service and pays tribute to their selfless contributions. If any Sixth District Vietnam War veteran is interested in being recognized at a future pinning ceremony, they can apply directly on Rep. McBath’s website.
