Duluth, GA — On Tuesday, April 4, Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-07) hosted a small business roundtable with U.S. Small Business Administrator Isabella Guzman. McBath convened leadership of local chambers of commerce to discuss challenges small businesses are facing and share feedback and success stories with SBA leadership. Administrator Guzman visited Georgia to engage with small businesses and highlight how the Biden Administration’s Investing in America agenda has spurred significant small business growth over the last two years.

“Small business is the backbone of our local economy, and I recognize the challenges that Main Street USA has faced and overcome these last three years,” McBath said. “That is why I am so grateful to Administrator Guzman for coming to speak with our small business leaders and share the priorities she is championing in the Biden-Harris Administration. Georgia’s Seventh District has so much to be proud of, and I am thrilled that another member of President Biden’s cabinet gets to see first-hand the tremendous success of this thriving and growing community.”

“President Biden’s Investing in America agenda has led to the strongest and fastest economic recovery in the world: adding 12.4 million jobs since President Biden took office and breaking records with 10.5 new small business applications filed in 2021 and 2022 - including over 600,000 in Georgia,” said Administrator Guzman. “I look forward to working with Congresswoman Lucy McBath and supporting her unwavering commitment to her community by giving the SBA resources needed to strengthen the innovation and growth of small businesses in Georgia.”

The day began with a meet and greet with leadership of the ACE Women’s Business Center, which is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Small Business Administration. McBath convened a lunch roundtable with local chamber leadership to speak with Administrator Guzman about the challenges and successes they are seeing from their membership. Immediately following a brief press availability, McBath and Guzman conducted a walking tour of two small businesses in downtown Norcross, The Local Peach and 45 South Cafe.
