Washington, DC — Today, Representative Lucy McBath voted to pass the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024—a package of six domestic funding bills focused on helping families and communities across the country. Included in this appropriations government funding package are several local projects which respond directly to some of the most pressing needs in Georgia.

“With this government funding package, both chambers of Congress have come together to keep our government open and working for the American people. I am thrilled that several projects I requested will receive funding thanks to today’s vote,” said Rep. McBath. “The investments we are continuing to make in our community will grow our economy and make a tremendous difference in the lives of thousands. I was proud to advocate my strong support for these projects, and I look forward to seeing the impact they will have in the years to come.”

In total, McBath championed funding for 14 projects that will directly benefit residents of Georgia. These include:

• $27,000 for the Biometric Fingerprinting Scanner Project
• $500,000 for the Cognitive Aging Research and Education Center 
• $850,000 for the Chattahoochee River Greenway - Abbotts Section
• $850,000 for the Ride Gwinnett Local Fixed Route 50 - Customer Infrastructure
• $850,000 for the SR 140/Jimmy Carter Boulevard at I-85
• $900,000 for the Tri City Connect
• $900,000 for the Atlanta Regional Transportation Carbon Reduction Plan
• $907,047 for the City of Lilburn for Camp Creek Bank Stabilization Project
• $959,752 for the City of Suwanee for Sewer Pipes and Stormwater Project
• $1,000,000 for the Chattahoochee River Greenway - McGinnis Section
• $1,000,000 for the Gwinnett Loop Trail - Satellite Boulevard Segment
• $1,000,000 for the Pleasant Hill Road Multi-Modal Bridge
• $1,666,279 for the Ride Gwinnett Local Fixed Route 60 – Fleet, Infrastructure, and Operations
• $2,000,000 for the YMCA Facility Improvements and Upgrades

The government funding package passed today invests in America’s future and delivers for the American people by:

• Helping with the high cost of living, creating and sustaining tens of thousands of good paying jobs, fighting inflation, and providing full funding for key lifelines such as food assistance and more affordable housing and homeownership.

• Protecting women’s rights by blocking attempts to limit women’s access to reproductive health care, including abortion, and by increasing funding for gender-based violence prevention and prosecution programs.

• Confronting the climate crisis, fighting climate change, and ensuring America’s energy independence with robust, transformative investments in deploying clean energy technologies in communities across the country, and providing funding for cutting-edge scientific and climate-related research.

• Honoring our commitments to our veterans by ensuring they receive the care and benefits that they have earned and investing in veterans’ health care, including targeted investments that advance women's health, mental health, and homelessness assistance.

This package includes the following funding bills: Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies; Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies; Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies; Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies; Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies; and Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies.

This legislation is expected to be signed into law by President Biden this week. The remaining six appropriations bills for fiscal year 2024 are expected to be released in the coming days and be voted on ahead of their expiration on March 22.
