Washington, DC — This evening, Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) voted to approve the CASH Act, legislation to increase economic impact payments to $2,000. The initiative has the support of the President and would provide needed relief to more than 15 million Americans experiencing economic strain during the ongoing pandemic.

“For almost a year, the American people have been battling this deadly pandemic, and it is long past time that hard-working families across our nation receive necessary support,” said McBath. “For months we have fought to provide more for those grappling with this pandemic, and now is not the time to back down. I support this needed relief and look forward to continuing our work to ensure the American people hit hardest by economic hardship receive the necessary aid they deserve.”

Last week, the House and Senate passed a bipartisan relief and funding package that invests in accelerated vaccine distribution, supports small businesses, fights the gun violence epidemic, provides a pay raise for service members and military families, honors our responsibilities to veterans, funds education and child care, and supports the global fight against COVID-19. The CASH Act increases the $600 economic impact payments included in the package to $2,000.
