Sandy Springs, GA — Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Marietta) hosted a Community Conversation town hall on Monday evening to answer questions and discuss topics including the ongoing pandemic, the protests that have broken out across the nation, and the continuing economic difficulty many small businesses and hard-working Georgians still face. Nearly three thousand community members joined the call, where McBath provided additional updates on her recent work in Congress.
“Americans everywhere continue to face extraordinary challenges, and these calls are a wonderful way for our community to safely gather and discuss ways to help make the lives of our friends and neighbors just a little bit easier. So many of our neighbors have done the hard work of looking out for one another and standing up for their communities, and for that, I am filled with hope,” said McBath. “I want to thank all who attended for joining me in the shadow of these difficult and unprecedented times and for their dedication to our community. As we continue to move forward, as we continue our work together and for each other, may we all go forward with strength and with hope.”
Experts joining Rep. McBath included Drew Tonsmeire, Area Director of the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center at Kennesaw State and Dr. Jennifer Smith, Board Member of the Georgia Psychological Association and the Georgia Psychological Foundation. During the call, McBath announced her Virtual Office Hours program for this summer. The program aims to serve those in need of assistance with a federal case, and are available for constituents by appointment. They can be requested here.
This was the third interactive community call McBath has hosted in nearly as many months. Previous webinars and remote town halls with local experts have focused on small business loans, strategies for working, educating, and looking after loved ones from home, mental health, caring for veterans with dementia, updates from the Social Security Administration, and information on the COVID-19 virus. Those who were unable to attend are encouraged to visit Representative McBath’s coronavirus resources webpage or sign up for her newsletter to receive updates about the ongoing pandemic, as well as future events.
