Washington, DC — Representative Lucy McBath (GA-06) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed The Heroes Act on a bipartisan vote:
“This pandemic has caused grief for thousands, financial difficulty for millions, and drastic changes to the lives of every American. Families across the country agree that more must be done to protect the health and financial well-being of our loved ones.
“I’m fighting for more assistance for our hospitals and health centers, more funding for our police and firemen, and more support for the doctors, nurses, and first responders who are risking their lives day after day to save their fellow Americans. I’m fighting for more testing and treatment to keep families safe. I’m fighting to make sure that those who have lost jobs to this pandemic aren’t kicked out of their homes because they can’t afford their mortgage or their rent.
“Our country continues to face a stark challenge, but I remain heartened by the sacrifices I’ve seen our community make for one another. When we look back at this time in the years to come, I hope we all can take pride in our response to the challenges we now face. That we fought to protect our fellow Americans with love, unity, and unshakeable determination.
“I believe in America. I believe in Americans. And I know that together, we will defeat this disease.”
