Marietta, GA — This evening, Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Marietta) held a Town Hall for residents of Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District. The second-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives highlighted her office’s work during her first three years in Congress, including her six bills signed into law. Rep. McBath also emphasized her community assistance program which has helped thousands of community members with their federal cases and secured millions of dollars for the hard-working families and communities of Georgia’s Sixth District. 

“Each and every day we are called upon to serve our communities in Congress - that is what this work is about. Our neighbors are trusting us to do everything we can to advocate and legislate on their behalf,” said McBath. “Our work is about serving our community in Congress. BACKGROUND

• McBath’s bipartisan legislation to protect veterans, the HAVEN Act, was signed into law by President Trump during McBath’s first year in office and was named “the biggest bill passed by a freshman” that Congress. 
• McBath’s bill, H.R. 7259, the Patents for Humanity Program Improvement Act, was signed into law during the same administration and strengthens incentives for innovators to use their talents to solve global humanitarian challenges.
• McBath led H.R. 5321, bipartisan legislation to modernize data collection practices and improve epidemic preparedness. In March 2020, she secured the $500 million for the Centers for Disease Control that she requested as part of the COVID-19 relief package.
• As part of the CARES coronavirus relief package, both H.R. 3986, the Child Care Protection Improvement Act and H.R. 5202, the Protecting Critical Services for Mothers and Babies Act were signed into law in 2020. 
• With the signing of H.R. 942, McBath was able to secure lower health care costs for those who were forced out of their jobs during the pandemic.
• Through her office’s constituent services casework program, more than 3,000 constituents have been assisted in obtaining their earned benefits and savings, totaling over $1 million in the 117th Congress.
