Washington, DC — Representative Lucy McBath (GA-07) released the following statement after President Biden’s announcement of the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention:

“Ten years ago, my son Jordan was murdered by a man who pulled up next to them and complained about the ‘loud music’ they were playing.

“I had dreamed of sending him off to college, of watching him start a career, and of attending his wedding.

“I, and far too many parents like me, are robbed of that dream. Over 100 Americans die every single day from gun violence. Americans in cities, suburbs, and rural America live this nightmare daily.

“The Biden Administration is making historic progress in the fight against gun violence and the effort to keep our families and our children safe. Together, we have passed real, meaningful legislation that will protect American lives.

“I applaud today’s announcement, and look forward to the continued leadership of the Biden Administration on this issue of life and death.”
