Sandy Springs, GA — Today, Rep. Lucy McBath (D-Marietta) participated in the final stop of the Protect Our Care “Care Force One” bus tour at the Georgia State Capitol. The event was an opportunity for individuals to share personal stories about the critical need for access to quality, affordable health care. Congresswoman McBath was joined by Rebecca Galanti, Anne Shoup with Protect Our Care, and Staci Fox, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeast.

“I will fight every day to protect the health of our communities, to provide comprehensive care for our women and our mothers, to defend coverage for those who have pre-existing conditions, and to ensure that all Americans have access to affordable, quality health care,” McBath said. “As both a mother and a two-time breast cancer survivor, this work is very personal to me.”

The House of Representatives has taken bold action to protect and improve health care for Georgians. In March, McBath joined with her colleagues in introducing the Protecting Pre-Existing Conditions and Making Health Care More Affordable Act of 2019. The legislation protects Americans with pre-existing conditions and lowers health care costs. The package also included one of McBath’s bills, the MORE Health Education Act. That bill would restore funding for ACA outreach and enrollment assistance to ensure that enrollment in the health care Marketplace is strong.

“Care Force One” was a nationwide bus tour sponsored by Protect Our Care that highlighted attempts to take away heath care from millions of people with preexisting conditions. The tour also discussed the Democratic agenda to lower costs and improve care for all Americans.
