Duluth, GA — Over the last several weeks, Rep. Lucy McBath’s office organized her fourth annual Valentines for Veterans initiative. In total, her office collected over 3,000 valentines and delivered them to the Atlanta VA Medical Center for distribution to veterans across the metro Atlanta area. McBath worked with local schools, community organizations, and constituents to collect cards and messages of support for veterans to be distributed. On Friday, she personally visited Chesney Elementary School in Duluth to pick up 700 cards that students had created.

“I am truly in awe of our community’s response to this initiative,” McBath said. “During my fourth year of Valentines for Veterans, I am proud to say that we broke a record in turnout and participation for our veterans. This day and always, it is important that we let the men and women who served our nation know that they are loved. I am so grateful to the teachers and students who made this year’s program such a success, and I hope that everyone who sent in a card knows just how meaningful their greetings will be to the veterans who will receive them today.”

Participating schools included Brookwood Elementary School, Benefield Elementary School, J. A. Alford Elementary School, Bethesda Elementary School, Beaver-Ridge Elementary School, Berkley Lake Elementary School, Chattahoochee Elementary School, Chesney Elementary School, Gwin Oaks Elementary School, Berkmar Middle School, and Snellville Middle School. In addition to these schools, constituents from across Georgia’s Seventh Congressional District sent in over 250 cards of their own. Additional photos from Friday’s visit can be viewed here.
