Atlanta, GA — This week, Representative Lucy McBath (GA-06) announced Sixth District students who were nominated by her office to attend a United States military service academy. In total, 26 students from the Sixth District received nominations to the following academies: 11 students received a nomination to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, 15 students received a nomination to attend the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, 11 students received a nomination to attend the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and 3 students received a nomination to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.

“Helping identify and nominate future generations of leadership in our nation’s military is one of the most incredible privileges of my job in Congress,” McBath said. “I am so proud of each student who received a nomination, and I am grateful to their families, their teachers, and their community mentors for preparing them to be successful in their pursuit of a career in military service. Congratulations to these 26 young people who have courageously chosen to serve our country in such an honorable way.”

All students who received a nomination from McBath’s office must now be selected by the service academy for a formal appointment to attend in the fall of 2026. The following students* received a congressional nomination to attend a United States military service academy in the 2026-2027 academic year:

  • Hillgrove High School student Bryson S. Freeman of Powder Springs received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy
  • Episcopal High School student John T. Griggs of Atlanta received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy, United States Naval Academy, and United States Military Academy
  • Pace Academy student Keith C. Hasson of Atlanta received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy and United States Military Academy
  • Deerfield Academy student Matthew K. Hough of Atlanta received a nomination to the United States Naval Academy
