Walton Court Booster Station

Amount: $1,760,000

Recipient and Address: Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners

75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30046

Project Description: The purpose of this project is for construction of needed repairs to the existing booster station, which is over 40 years old.? The area served by the Walton Court booster station is at a higher elevation than the surrounding area which reduces the water pressure to the service area. To ensure enough water pressure is available for this area, pumps boost the pressure to meet the required Level of Service for customer usage. Additionally, the Walton Court station lacks a standby electrical power source. Consequently, a power outage would result in a loss of pressure in the system affecting up to 180 connections. The proposed project will address reliability, resilience and security at the existing site through building improvements, replacement of pumps, upgrades to the electrical system, installation of a standby power source, and security enhancements. With a current population of 1 million people and projected growth expected to reach 1.5 million by 2050, Gwinnett County is poised to become the most populous county in the state, with the highest number of drinking water accounts. Ensuring the provision of safe drinking water to its residents is a top priority for Gwinnett County.

The objective of this project is to replace the existing 6-inch Asbestos Cement Pipe and 2-inch PVC pipe with 8-inch Ductile Iron Pipe. The project will involve replacing a total of 3,044 linear feet of pipe. Upon completion, the new pipe will provide more reliable water service to the community. With a current population of 1 million people and projected growth expected to reach 1.5 million by 2050, Gwinnett County is poised to become the most populous county in the state, with the highest number of drinking water accounts. Last Mile Connectivity for Lake Drive Residents

Amount: $2,300,000

Recipient and Address: Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners

75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30046

Project Description: To construct sidewalk and drainage improvements along Lake Drive from Buford Hwy to Pleasantdale Road. The project is expected to add about 3,563 linear feet of sidewalk. The construction could be split into phases depending on the amount of funds received. Lake Drive is within an older area of Gwinnett that was originally built without sidewalk facilities. This corridor is situated in a low-income area in which many households also have limited transportation options, as owning and operating a vehicle can be cost prohibitive. The residents of these neighborhoods often rely on walking to reach their destination or to reach a bus route. Residents in the Lake Drive area have access to Gwinnett County local Bus routes 10 A/B that provide direct access to the Doraville MARTA Station. The neighborhood is only 2 miles from the Doraville MARTA so walking to/from the regional system is an option for some residents. Gwinnett County DOT is committed to providing transportation for all modes of transport, and the installation of sidewalks along this residential corridor will provide much needed connectivity for a population dependent on walking and transit. This project will improve availability /accessibility by connecting low-income housing residents to the transportation network and to walkable destinations. This project will improve access to mobility options to connect people to more places, more jobs and support economic development. This project is not just about laying concrete paths; it's a step towards inclusive urban development, ensuring that all residents, regardless of income level, have reliable access to transportation, thereby supporting broader economic participation and development.

Fulton County Airport Customs Facility

Amount: $1,607,584

Recipient and Address: 141 Pryor St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30303

Project Description: The funding would be used to build a Customs and Border Protection Facility. Fulton County Airport (FTY) is one of only a few facilities in the Atlanta-metro region that has the capacity to welcome guests and alleviate traffic from around the world. In order to do so, FTY needs a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Facility. Without a CBP facility, incoming passengers would experience significant delays and inconvenience. Without a CBP facility, passengers arriving from international destinations would need to clear customs and immigration at alternative locations, potentially adding extra travel time and logistical challenges. Security concerns also arise without a CBP presence. The ability to thoroughly screen passengers and goods upon arrival is crucial for maintaining national security and preventing the entry of unauthorized individuals or contraband.
