Marietta, GA – On the fourth day of “Infrastructure Week”, Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) is touting the generational investment in Georgia airports and seaports. Thanks to the historic passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, more than $600 million will be set aside for travel and trade in the state. These long-term investments will help deliver goods more efficiently and safely, providing the necessary tools to address congestion in waterways and airways in order to make travel and trade easier for Georgians.
“This bill provides much-needed funding for our bustling airports, seaports, and waterways,” said McBath. “Funding that strengthens and improves our supply chain, funding that makes our airports more secure and efficient, and funding that modernizes waterways to ship our goods quickly and safely.”
Georgia is home to 109 public airports and 4 ports, including Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the Port of Savannah, both mainstays in the local and national economy. Additional funding will buttress construction and existing infrastructure, creating more jobs, stimulating the economy, and streamlining traffic through these critical access points in our country.
