Sandy Springs, G.A. — This week, Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06) convened two community briefings with local elected officials and Complete Count Committee representatives ahead of the 2020 Census. Attendees engaged with neighboring municipalities to promote collaboration and ensure that Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District is well equipped to provide a complete count in the upcoming Census, and the briefings were an opportunity to learn about 2020 Census developments at the national and county levels.

“An accurate count in the 2020 Census will help make sure our community receives the funding and resources we need – funding to cut down on transportation times, to serve our veterans, and to provide our children with the opportunities, education, and future we know they deserve,” said McBath. “I’m incredibly proud to be a partner in this effort and thank all who attended our community meetings this week.”

The community briefings took place at Dunwoody City Hall, co-hosted by Mayor Lynn Deutsch, and at the Alpharetta Branch Library. Both meetings included presentations from partnership staff from the U.S. Census Bureau and county leads for local Census outreach. In the coming months, McBath’s office will continue to partner with local governments and nonprofit organizations in the Sixth District to ensure a complete count. McBath will soon announce members of her Complete Count Committee and discuss further opportunities for constituents to be engaged in Census outreach efforts.

Beginning in March 2020, households across America will begin receiving official invitations with information on how to participate in the 2020 Census. The Census can be responded to online, by phone, or by mail. The Census Bureau is still hiring temporary positions for census takers. Information from the Census Bureau can be found at https://2020census.gov/en/jobs.html.
